Pappenheimer Rapier with wire-wrapped grip, 114 cm
From the 16th century onwards, the rapier was primarily a civilian weapon intended for duelling.
This so-called Pappenheimer-type rapier is characterized by its basket guard, which protects the hand. It is named after Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim, a field marshal of the Thirty Years’ War. This rapier with an intricate basket hilt features an unsharpened blade made of high carbon steel, a sharp point, and a grip wrapped with wire. The scabbard is made of leather-covered wood. The sword is not intended for fencing.
