Roman shield Parma Equestris with painted linen cover of own production.

This flat Roman shield is also known as Parma Equestris. It was mainly used by auxiliary cavalry units (auxilia), which were organized in units called Alae.

The shield is made of plywood and reinforced with fabric. The centre of the shield (umbo) is also made of brass and is intended to be mounted by the customer.
