This 3D badge with the motif of a Roman centurion is made of metal and presents a sculptural, detailed image of a Roman soldier - a centurion armed with a sword and shield. It is supplied as a badge with a safety pin and a separate lock. The badge is mounted on an information card which has a Roman flag on the front and a decorative design on the sides. On the reverse side the card describes the origins of Rome.
Rome was originally a small city on the banks of the Tiber River in western Italy. Although its early development was mainly related to trade, it was wars that made Rome a powerful force in the ancient world. The Roman army first fought against neighbouring tribes and Etruscan cities in Italy, later dominating the Mediterranean region and, at the height of its power, the provinces of Britannia and Asia Minor.
Roman laws, roads, architecture, coins, clothing and jewellery spread with these conquests.
