A bishop's collar is a circular collar that covers the neck, shoulders and upper chest and back. This type of protective equipment was particularly popular with German Landsknechts (mercenary soldiers) in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is made in a similar way to the ring hood. The name of this part of the ring armour comes from its shape, which resembles the wide-cut collar of a bishop's cloak.
Bishop's collars are inspired by historical models. They have a jagged edge. A riveted leather insert protects the area around the neck, and the neckline is adjustable with straps and late medieval brass buckles.
