The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Orcrist, the sword of Thorin Pavéza (Thorin Oakenshield)

Original movie replica by United Cutlery

In the Third Age of Middle-earth, Thorin Oakenshield and his band of dwarves discover an ancient elven sword called Orcrist ("The Orc Reaper") in a troll cave in Rhûdaur. This sword was forged by the high elves of the west in Gondolin. Thorin appropriates Orcrist and swears to slash the orcs with it again.

He uses the sword throughout his journey to Erebor, and fights with it against orcs and goblins in the Misty Mountains. His enemies hate and fear him at the same time - they call him "Biter".

Orcrist is a single-edged sword - the blade is sharp and curved on one side, while the back is straight. This shape is ideal for fighting goblins and goblins. The metal pommel bears the heraldry of House Ecthelion, Lord of the Fountain. The handle is stylized as a dragon's tooth.
