According to an old legend, it was a Nordic blacksmith named Ulfberht who made the first blade made entirely of steel. This key development achieved almost mythical status among warriors, making this one of the most important swords in the study of medieval weapons. There are several of these blades from slightly different periods, some of which bear engravings that express gratitude and respect for the sacred name of Ulfberht.
The engravings on both sides of our blades have been copied exactly so that the reproduction is identical, including all minor imperfections. It is made of high carbon steel (which is actually better than the original) and is beautifully balanced. The handle is wooden, wrapped in leather. The fixed guard is steel and the pommel is shaped like a para-nut, which was very popular with the Vikings at the time, as well as throughout Europe. A beautiful and important sword. The scabbard is included.
