The authentic replica of the kidney dagger, also known as the phallic dagger , comes from the time of the siege of Karlštejn near Prague in Bohemia, which lasted from 20 May to 8 November 1422. To help the besieged Karlštejn, a crusade was called in Nuremberg, but after the unsuccessful siege, the warring parties concluded a one-year truce.
