This bone dice is based on original Roman finds from the 1st-4th century AD.
The Romans were avid gamblers. They used dice not only for entertainment, but also for gambling and divination. Gambling was so widespread that authors such as Cicero and Suetonius mention it, and although it was officially banned, dice became a symbol of Roman everyday life and the passions of soldiers and citizens.
Each replica is hand-carved from real bone. The dark circular dots are filled in with black paint, just like the ancient originals. The dice are smaller in size than modern dice - the side length is around 10-12 mm. Thanks to the material and the authentic workmanship, it looks faithful and natural. It is a great addition to Roman reenactor sets, collections of ancient artifacts or historical board games.
