This is a reconstruction based on the original from around 1370 AD. The original is on display at the Valeria Museum in Sitten, Switzerland. This type of helmet was developed in the early 14th century. The visor is hinged at the centre front and is removable. It is therefore often called a "klappvisor bascinet".
This helmet is handmade from 2mm steel plate, riveted and welded.
Inside there is a comfortable padded textile lining. Brass rivets on the sides are used to attach the aventail for chest and shoulder protection.
