Gothic leg armour, 15th century, steel 1,6 mm - pair
Canvas leg protection (cuisses) in high Gothic style, inspired by a surviving original from Germany dating to the late 15th century.
The armour and individual armour components of the 15th century were typically richly decorated. Due to the ever-increasing effectiveness of offensive weapons, they usually provided protection for almost the entire body.
These leg protectors are made of 1.6 mm thick steel. They are fitted with adjustable leather straps on the back and precisely crafted buckles in a high gothic style. The front of the legs are decorated with forged fleurs-de-lys and elegant reinforcing ridges running across the thighs and under the knee pads (poleyny).
