- Pigface Bascinet 2 mm steel
Pigface Bascinet or dog muzzle - bascinet, steel 2 mm, with padded liner.
This type of helmet evolved from the late medieval bascinet. Until 1420 this helmet was a popular type among noble knights and warriors. The characteristic visor design gave the helmet the name Hundsgugel (dog hood/dog head).
The original of our full-size replica was probably made around 1400-1410 in northern Milan, which was an important centre of armour production. The helmet is handmade from 2mm thick steel, riveted and welded.
The helmet has a visor that can be raised and two hinged cheek arches. In addition, it is equipped with a comfortable padded cloth liner and a leather chin strap.
