The bastard sword, also known as a long sword, is a type of sword from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance with a long, straight, double-edged blade. It was typically wielded with one and a half hands or with both hands.

The straight, spirally shaped guard and pommel are made of iron. The blade, made of spring steel, is forged all the way to the guard, and its tang is secured to the pommel. The wooden hilt is covered with leather. The blade has a pronounced groove that extends nearly halfway along its length, contributing to greater flexibility while reducing the sword’s weight. The cutting edge of the blade is not sharpened.

The sword includes a wooden scabbard covered in leather with metal fittings.
