The badge depicts the devil with his tongue sticking out, while two human figures are whispering something in his ears. This is a symbolic representation of the sins people commit through their tongues and speech— slander, gossip, cursing, idle talk, and the like.

The two human figures are whispering directly into the ears of a giant devil, who is sticking out his tongue. The scene thus refers to a proverb known since ancient times: “My tongue is my enemy.”
