The Moravian Eagle – a pendant for proud people of the historic land of Moravia.
The Moravian Eagle is one of the oldest regional heraldic emblems in Central Europe. Its origins date back to the 13th century, when it became the coat of arms of the Margraves of Moravia from the Přemyslid dynasty. In heraldry, it is depicted as a crowned eagle with red-and-silver chequered plumage on a golden shield. From the very beginning, it symbolized the autonomy of the Margraviate of Moravia within the Lands of the Bohemian Crown and appeared on seals, coins, official documents, and banners. Although its depiction underwent several modifications over the centuries, its essential heraldic form has remained unchanged.
