This Roman victory pendant is made of lead-free pewter and glass. The victory banner motif is suspended from a waxed cord. The pendant is mounted on a folding information card which shows a Roman mosaic on the front and describes the Praetorian Guard and the meaning of the abbreviation SPQR on the reverse.

Scorpio was the symbol of the Praetorian Guard and represented the sign of Scorpio under which the Emperor Tiberius was born. The Praetorian Guard was the elite bodyguard unit of the Roman emperors, which also acted as secret police and participated in military campaigns.

The letters SPQR (Senatus Populusque Romanus), meaning "Senate and People of Rome", appeared on buildings, coins and military banners. These banners were carried by the various legions and were decorated with golden eagles, laurel wreaths, astrological symbols and banners called vexilla.
