This type of sword may have been worn at the beginning of the Hundred Years' War. This particular specimen has several distinctive features. The finely shaped guard curves towards the blade, narrows and widens again at the ends. The pommel has very specific angles and flats. The hilt sits very comfortably in the hand. The broad blade resembles the shape of a leaf and is straight, with a flat diamond cross-section, a double-edged blade and a narrow groove to reduce weight. The width of the blade widens slightly where it meets the hilt, and the gracefully curved edges end in a sharp stabbing point. The sword is relatively light for its size, but feels strong and stable in the hand.

This replica is hand forged by an experienced blade smith from modern 1080 carbon steel, which is fully hardened and distally tapered for proper weight distribution.

The scabbard has a wooden core covered in leather. The tip is reinforced with brass finials with decorative cutouts and an acorn shaped tip. At the neck of the scabbard, the leather extends upwards and covers part of the guard in the ricasso area.
