Leather satchel in the style of Hungarian tarsoly bags.
This belt pouch is inspired by the medieval Hungarian tarsol bag designs that were common among the Hungarians and Eastern Vikings during the Viking period.
The center flap of the pouch features distinctive decorative metal hardware that catches the eye and is complemented by equally decorative hardware at the end of the strap. The tarsol bag closes with a small button.
The dimensions of the bag are 16 × 13 cm, depth 3,5 cm.
The belt loop is 5,5 cm wide.
The size of the pouch is sufficient for storing, for example, a man's wallet and a bunch of keys. The bag is also suitable for a smartphone with a screen diagonal up to 4 inches.
Bags from the Viking period with Hungarian tarsol-type fittings are not only known from eastern regions such as Ukraine, but have also been found in the Viking settlement of Birka in eastern Sweden. It is believed that the origin of these special Viking bags goes back to the nomadic equestrian peoples of Hungary in the territory of today's Hungary, where these so-called tarsol bags were a common part of traditional clothing.
Thanks to the extensive trade routes of the Eastern Vikings from the 8th to the 10th century, these Hungarian belt bags made their way across the great rivers from the eastern steppes to Scandinavia. The characteristic features of the Hungarian-Viking belt bags were the lyrical shape and the rich metal decorations - the so-called tarsols - on the flap of the bag.
