Medieval Longsword with Scabbard
The sword features the typical characteristics of a traditional European late medieval sword and represents, in a way, the archetype of the late medieval longsword. This classic cut-and-thrust sword is based on weapons wielded by 15th-century knights.
The long, double-edged blade made of high carbon steel with a flattened diamond cross-section features a smooth profile and a distal taper towards the point. The blade is full-tanged and riveted to the pommel. The blunt edges are approx. 2.5 mm thick at the guard and approx. 1.5 mm at the tip, which is rounded.
The cruciform hilt consists of a long wooden grip core wrapped in brown leather, a straight steel crossguard, and an elongated octagonal scent-stopper pommel, also made of steel, with concave facets and a rounded top. Altogether, this sword combines optimal weight distribution, agility, and a secure grip with elegant simplicity.
This late medieval knightly sword comes complete with a beautiful wooden scabbard covered with brown leather. The tip of the scabbard is reinforced with a blued steel chape, and at the throat, the leather extends upward and partially covers the guard at the ricasso. The scabbard is also equipped with an adjustable carrying strap (shoulder belt).
This sword is intended for costuming purposes; therefore it si not intenden for swordfighting!
