Moldavite is a tektite, a meteoritic glass whose origin is associated with the impact of a meteorite around 15 million years ago. Its occurrence is mainly linked to South Bohemia and the area around the lower course of the Vltava River. Worldwide, these unique stones are highly valued.
In South Bohemia, there was a tradition in which every young man would give this stone to his future bride as a symbol of his deepest feelings. An interesting fact is that W. Churchill always carried this magical stone in his pocket for good luck.
