Austro-Hungarian Hussar Officer’s Sabre

Hussars were light cavalrymen who originated in Central Europe in the 15th century and became famous for their bold fighting style, speed, and flamboyant dress.

This Austro-Hungarian Hussar Officer’s Sabre features a curved blade made of 1065 AISI carbon steel. One side bears an astronomical-themed relief, while the other displays a Latin inscription:

“ANDREAS COMES HADIK GENERALIS CAMPI MARESCHALLUS EXCELSI CONSILY AULAE BELLICI SUPREMUS PRAESES”, meaning Field Marshal Count András Hadik, President of the Court Council of War.

The original sword of this type was created as an honorary gift for the famous general Count András Hadik.

The hilt is made of richly decorated solid brass with a wooden grip wrapped in genuine leather and adorned with brass studs.

The scabbard has a wooden core covered in genuine leather and complemented by ornate brass fittings.
