The original cloisonné on which this replica is based dates from 600 to 650 AD, the Anglo-Saxon Merovingian period, and was made of pure gold with glass and garnet inlays.
The pendant was found in King's Field near Faversham in Kent/England, where Anglo-Saxon royalty was present for many centuries. It is now owned by the British Museum in London.

Compared to the historic original, this replica is complete with red and white glass.

King's Field near Faversham is considered by some historians to be one of the richest Anglo-Saxon cemeteries in England. The artefacts found here go far beyond the craft that was common in Anglo-Saxon England at the time.
Twenty large round brooches in gold and silver with Indian and Bohemian garnet inlays, the former wearers of which are found in royal settings, were recovered here.
A rare ring sword, an Egyptian bowl, a gold bridle and hundreds of pieces of gold and silver jewellery were found here, as well as the largest concentration of Anglo-Saxon glass artefacts.
The name King's Field, combined with the rich finds, suggests that Faversham was a royal site in the 6th and 7th centuries. King Ethelbert, for example, had his seat here during his reign from 560 to 616 BC.
