A replica of an early medieval brooch from Kent. This replica of an early medieval brooch has been worked in detail according to the original find from the Merovingian period and dates from ca. 500 - 550 AD.
The original brooch used for this replica was made in southern Germany but was found in Kent, England and is now in the possession of the British Museum in London.
During the early Middle Ages, bow brooches were worn mainly by West Germanic women and were very common in Alemannic, Frankish and Thuringian areas during the Merovingian period.
