This handmade leather medieval pouch is based on surviving medieval belt pouches and bags used mainly during the 13th–15th centuries. Its characteristic shape with a widened lower section and solid upper flap corresponds to archaeological finds from urban settlements and trade centres across medieval Europe. Similar pouches have been discovered in London, Lübeck, Dordrecht and other Hanseatic cities.

The pouch is made from durable leather and decorated with an embossed pattern inspired by Gothic ornamentation. The geometric layout and repeating floral motif reflect decorations known from late medieval leatherwork. The braided leather loop at the top follows historical methods of fastening and reinforcing medieval pouches.

During the Middle Ages, similar pouches were used for carrying coins, seals, fire-starting tools, writing utensils and other personal belongings. They were worn suspended from a belt, as medieval garments did not yet include sewn pockets. Thanks to its sturdy construction, the pouch was suitable for both travel and everyday use.
