Medieval clasp inspired by the treasure of Colmar
First half of the 14th century
Dimensions: 55 × 55 mm
Pearls, glass stones, gilded finish
Original in Musée de Cluny, Paris, France

This brooch is a replica of an exceptional piece of jewellery from the so-called Treasure of Colmar, a collection of Jewish objects and jewellery hidden during the 14th century pogroms in the city of Colmar (now France). The original dates from the first half of the 14th century and is now housed in the Musée de Cluny (National Museum of the Middle Ages) in Paris.

The brooch is made in true historical form - with glass stones, river pearls and a gilded surface that mimic the look of Gothic jewellery of the time. It is a testament to the extraordinary craftsmanship and taste of the elite of the time.

Clasps of this type served not only as ornaments but also as a symbol of status, wealth and identity - often worn on formal occasions or as part of a dowry.
