In Norse mythology, Geri and Freki are a pair of wolves belonging to the God Odin. Their names are usually interpreted as "Greedy" and "Gluttonous", referring to their fierce nature. According to Old Norse texts, they sit by his side in the Hall of Valhalla and accompany him on his travels through the world.

Interestingly, the god Odin himself does not need to eat - he leaves all his meals to Geri and Freki. The wolves are thus not only companions, but also manifestations of his power and relationship with war, death and wild nature. In the broader context of Norse mythology, wolves represent an ambivalent force - destructive, but at the same time sacred and closely linked to fate.
