Rainbow is now considered one of the most iconic wool blankets inspired by the fur trade era in North America. Its look is a nod to the famous multi-stripe "point blankets" that were traded primarily by the Hudson's Bay Company from the 18th century onward. These blankets were made of tightly woven wool, were extremely warm and durable, and often served not only as a blanket but also as a full-fledged substitute for sleeping bags or as material for making capote-type coats.

The distinctive combination of black, red, green and yellow stripes on a light background, also known historically as 'Queen Anne colours', is a typical feature of this blanket. This colour variant is one of the most culturally significant and recognisable patterns in North American commercial quilts.

The Rainbow blanket is thick, warm and its high weight makes it ideal for camping, outdoor and winter use. The strong, smooth weave means it traps less dirt, making it an excellent choice for outdoor, tent, teepee or historic camping use. However, it is also very decorative indoors, for example as a throw over a sofa or as a dominant feature in a living room.

These blankets are particularly popular with bushcraft, re-enactment and historical camping enthusiasts as they are an authentic alternative to modern sleeping bags. In the past, similar wool blankets were also highly prized by the indigenous people of North America, who used them as clothing, cloaks and bedding. Traders traded them primarily for beaver pelts and other fur goods. From the early 18th century onwards, wool blankets formed an important part of the fur trade.

The size of a Rainbow blanket is approximate and may vary by approximately 3 %. This is due to the traditional production technology where the last step of production is a water bath during which the wool is shrunk to the desired size. Due to the natural behaviour of the wool fibre, this process cannot be controlled with 100% accuracy.

Maintenance:
Cold washing or washing at a maximum of 30 °C is recommended, ideally on a wool programme and using a detergent containing lanolin. Bleaching and tumble drying are not suitable. It is advisable to ventilate woollen products regularly in the fresh air to preserve their natural properties and prevent moth infestation.
