Dilophosaurus is one of the most famous predatory dinosaurs of the Early Jurassic. It lived approximately 193 million years ago in what is now North America and reached a length of about 6 to 7 meters. Its most striking feature was a pair of prominent bony crests on the top of its skull, from which it got its name—Dilophosaurus means “lizard with two crests.”
The first fossils were discovered in the 1940s in Arizona.
