Tyrannosaurus rex is one of the most famous and best-studied dinosaurs in the history of paleontology. This Late Cretaceous predator, which lived approximately 68–66 million years ago, reached a length of up to 12 meters and weighed over 8 metric tons. The first significant fossil discovery was made in 1902 in the U.S. state of Montana by paleontologist Barnum Brown, who worked for the American Museum of Natural History. This discovery contributed significantly to the definition of the species and laid the foundation for its scientific description, which was published several years later. Thanks to its massive jaws and extremely powerful bite, Tyrannosaurus rex was among the apex predators of its time. It has become a symbol of paleontology and the prehistoric world, and to this day remains the subject of intensive research focused on its biology, behavior, and ecology.
