The triskele, also known as the triskelion, is one of the oldest symbols of Celtic culture. It is made up of three spirals coming from a common centre, expressing movement, balance and the constant cycle of life. For the Celts it represented the unity of three forces - for example, life, death and rebirth, or earth, water and sky. The symbol appears already on prehistoric monuments. The triskele reminds us of the harmony of nature and the inner growth of man. It is seen as a protective sign that brings strength, stability and spiritual connection.

In later times - in the Middle Ages it was adopted by cathedral builders. The triskelion was used as a decorative and symbolic motif in medieval cathedrals. It appeared in stone reliefs, stained glass windows and manuscripts.
