Iron hats or liquid hats (eisenhut, ironhat, war hat, kettle hat, chapel-de-fer) are very popular and effective helmets. They have been in production since the 13th century. Iron hats were popular with infantry units.
The helmet is based on a find from Sweden from the collections of the Museum of National Antiquities, Stockholm, around 1300.
It is dated to the late 13th century. The helmet is all-iron, the bell is semicircular and is formed by four "ribs". The front ribs are wider.
