The oldest historically known depiction of Prague (undoubtedly the Old Town) comes from Lauf Castle. The town and Lauf Castle were acquired for the Czech Crown in 1353 by the Roman Emperor and Czech King Charles IV in a treaty with the Wittelsbachs. Together with other places and territories in the Upper Palatinate, it was incorporated into the Bohemian Crown in 1355 as its subsidiary land. The Prague coat of arms comes from the hall of arms of Lauf Castle (Wenzelburg) - built 1356, decoration from 1361.
