Ring skirt - late medieval
Ring skirts were popular during the Late Middle Ages, because at this time plate armour dominated and it was only necessary to protect the gaps between the parts of the armour with ring reinforcement.
Type of RRR ring armour
This specific type of mesh armour consists entirely of round rings with round rivet heads. Each individual ring has been hand riveted. The braid is 4 in 1, which means that each ring is interlocked with four others. This type is called RRR (Round Ring Riveted).
