The borders of the pre-war Czechoslovakia were lined with border posts in the shape of a flag with the national emblem. They were officially called "Border Orientation Pillars" and became a symbol of commitment to the defense of the homeland in 1938.
These posts have been erected on the border since 1925, at all customs crossings across the state border.
