Erotic tokens called spintrie are small but eloquent reminders of everyday life in ancient Rome. They originated in the 1st century AD and combine artistic detail with the insight and practicality of the society of the time.

On the obverse side there is usually an erotic scene, on the reverse a number in the Roman system. The purpose of these tokens remains a matter of conjecture - they could have been tickets to baths or brothels, gambling stamps or personal talismans.

The Spintria IIII replica is cast in zinc and patinated to bring out the fine relief lines and original character of the coin. A great addition to a collection that will bring a bit of antique humour and craftsmanship.
