Extra large Axe of Perun. Cast from bronze. Surface is smooth - you can decorate it with your own ornamentation. Size circa 4 x 4.9, weight approx. 16.9 g (!). Dimensions of the hole for the leather cord or the chainlet is cca 5 x 6 mm. Top side of the axe is decorated with GROMOVITI ZNACI (thunder marks of Perun).
Gromoviti znaci means thunder marks in English, and they are devoted to Perun. These symbols used to be often engraved upon roof beams of village houses in Eastern Europe, to protect old Slavs from lightning. They also represent people (dancing) around the fire - unity of the family, tribe - Slavic unity.
This axe amulet is based on a finding from the Khazar fortress of Sarkel (Саркел) excavated around the 1930s. The Slavs had controlled this fortress from 965 until the 12th century.
This AXE was made by Wulflund and maintained by Milan Soukup.
